Super easy to make crochet stitch

Posted on October 29, 2025

This crochet pattern in the image is the Double Crochet V-Stitch, which creates a soft, open, and textured look. Here’s how you can make it step-by-step:

🧶 What You’ll Need

  • Yarn: Medium-weight (category 4) or any yarn you like.
  • Hook: Use the hook size recommended on your yarn label (commonly 4.0–5.0 mm).
  • Extras: Scissors and a yarn needle for weaving ends.

🌸 Step-by-Step Tutorial

🔹 Step 1: Make the Foundation Chain

  1. Start with a slip knot on your hook.
  2. Chain a multiple of 3 + 1 (for example, chain 31).
    • The “+1” is for balance and turning.

🧵 Example:
If you chain 31 stitches:
→ 31 = (3 × 10) + 1 → gives you 10 V-stitches across the row.

🔹 Step 2: Work the First Row

  1. Yarn over, and make 1 double crochet (dc) in the 4th chain from the hook.
    • The skipped 3 chains count as your first dc.
  2. Skip 1 chain, then make (1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc) in the next chain.
    • This creates your first V-stitch.
  3. Repeat from * to * across the chain.
  4. When you reach the end, make 1 dc in the last chain.

👉 This completes your first row — you’ll see little “V” shapes separated by spaces.

  1. Chain 3 and turn your work (this counts as your first dc in the next row).

🔹 Step 3: Work the Second Row

  1. Find the first ch-1 space inside the V-stitch below.
    • You’ll work into this space (not into the top of the stitch).
  2. In that ch-1 space, work (1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc) — that’s your new V-stitch.
  3. Repeat this in each V-stitch space across the row.
  4. At the end, make 1 dc in the top of the turning chain from the previous row.
  5. Chain 3 and turn.

🔹 Step 4: Repeat Rows

Repeat Step 3 until your project reaches the desired length — scarf, blanket, or top.

💡 Stitch Pattern Recap

Each row:

Ch 3, (1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc) in each ch-1 space across, end with 1 dc in top of ch-3.

✨ Optional Edges

  • Straight edge: You can add a row of single crochet (sc) around the whole piece to give it a clean border.
  • Lacy edge: Add a picot or shell edging if you want it more decorative.
