Step-by-step to make crochet flower keychain

Posted on November 8, 2025

Perfect 🌸 Let’s make a crochet pattern for the flower keychain pouch — exactly like in your photo (white pouch with 3D flower and green leaves).
I’ll break it into five detailed sections with exact stitch counts and row-by-row instructions for beginners.

🧶 MATERIALS

ItemDetails
Yarn4-ply (medium weight) acrylic or cotton yarn
ColorsWhite (base), Green (leaves), 2 flower colors (dark + light), center color (cream or yellow)
Hook3.0 mm crochet hook
OtherYarn needle, scissors, keychain ring, jump ring

🪡 PART 1: Crochet the Pouch Base

We’ll make 2 white squares, then join them together.

🧩 Front and Back Panels

  1. Foundation Chain:
Ch 18 (this makes the pouch about 7 cm wide).
  2. Row 1:
SC in 2nd ch from hook, SC across. (17 SC)
    Ch 1, turn.
  3. Rows 2–20:
SC in each st across. (17 SC)
Ch 1, turn after each row.
→ Continue until your piece is a square (about 7×7 cm).
  4. Fasten off and weave in ends.

✅ Make 2 identical squares for the pouch front and back.

🪡 PART 2: Joining the Pouch

  1. Place the two squares together, with the wrong sides facing inside (so right sides face out).
  2. SC around 3 sides only (left, bottom, right).
    • Work 1 SC in each row side, and 3 SC in each corner for a neat edge.
    • Leave the top open.
  3. Make the keychain loop:
    • On one top corner, Ch 8, SL ST to same stitch to form a small loop.
  4. Fasten off and weave in ends.

🌸 PART 3: Crochet the Flower (3D Layered Flower)

We’ll make 2 flower layers — one large (bottom) and one small (top).

🔹 Large Flower

  1. Magic Ring, Ch 1.
  2. Round 1: 10 SC in ring, SL ST to join. (10 sts)
  3. Round 2: (Ch 2, 3 DC in next st, Ch 2, SL ST in next st) repeat 5 times around (5 petals).
  4. Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

🔸 Small Flower

  1. Magic Ring, Ch 1.
  2. Round 1: 6 SC in ring, SL ST to join. (6 sts)
  3. Round 2: (Ch 2, 2 DC in next st, Ch 2, SL ST in next st) repeat 3 times (3 petals).
  4. Fasten off and leave a tail.

🌼 Flower Center (optional)

  1. With light yarn (cream/yellow), make a magic ring.
  2. 6 SC in ring, pull tight, SL ST to join.
  3. Fasten off and leave a tail.

🧵 Assembly:

  • Stack the large flower → small flower → center circle.
  • Sew all layers together at the middle.
  • Shape the petals outward for a 3D look.

🍃 PART 4: Crochet the Leaves

Make 2–3 leaves per flower.

  1. Ch 8.
  2. Work down the chain:
SC in 2nd ch, HDC in next, DC in next 3, HDC in next, SC in last ch.
  3. Ch 1, rotate the work, and crochet on the other side of the chain:
SC, HDC, DC x3, HDC, SC.
  4. SL ST to first SC.
  5. Fasten off with a long tail.

🌷 PART 5: Assembly & Finishing

  1. Sew the leaves onto the front pouch first, arranging them like in your picture (two on the sides, one slightly under the flower).
  2. Sew the flower on top, centered over the leaves.
  3. Attach the keychain ring through the small loop.
  4. Hide and trim all yarn ends neatly.

✅ Done! You now have a cute flower keychain pouch — perfect for coins, lip balm, or small items.

🌈 Optional Variations

  • Use pastel yarn for spring look.
  • Add a small button or zipper at the top.
  • Change flower types (rose, daisy, puff flower).
  • Add a lining with fabric for durability.
