Easy to make crochet pattern

Posted on October 28, 2025

That crochet piece in the image looks like a triangle lace motif — it’s often used in shawls or decorative edges. It features openwork (holes) made with chain spaces and double crochet (dc) stitches.

Here’s how you can make a similar lace triangle:

🧶 MATERIALS

  • Yarn: Soft or fuzzy DK/light-weight yarn (like mohair blend or acrylic)
  • Hook: Use a size that matches the yarn (e.g. 3.5mm–4.5mm)
  • Scissors, tapestry needle

🪡 STITCHES USED

  • ch = chain
  • dc = double crochet (US terms)
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • sp = space
  • sk = skip
  • st = stitch

🌺 DETAILED PATTERN (Triangle Lace Motif)

Foundation Row

1️⃣ Chain 6.
2️⃣ Work 1 dc into the 6th chain from hook.
👉 You now have: ch 5 (counts as dc + ch2) + dc = small V shape.

Row 2

1️⃣ Chain 5 (counts as dc + ch2), turn your work.
2️⃣ Work 1 dc into the top of the previous dc (from Row 1).
3️⃣ Chain 2, then work 1 dc into the chain space at the end.
👉 You’ll have 3 “holes” — forming the start of the triangle.

Row 3

1️⃣ Chain 5, turn.
2️⃣ Work 1 dc into first chain space.
3️⃣ Ch 2, dc into next dc, ch 2, dc into next chain space.
👉 The triangle widens — now you have 4 open spaces.

Row 4

1️⃣ Chain 5, turn.
2️⃣ Work 1 dc into first chain space.
3️⃣ Ch 2, dc into next dc, ch 2, dc into next ch-2 space — repeat across the row.
4️⃣ End with dc in the top of the last dc from the previous row.
👉 Continue increasing like this — each row adds one more open space.

Row 5+ (Continue Pattern)

Every new row begins with:

Ch 5 (counts as dc + ch2), turn, then work (dc, ch2) into each chain space and dc from the previous row, ending with dc in the last dc.

Each row will widen your triangle evenly with open lace holes.

Edging (Optional)

Once you reach the desired size:

  • Work one row of single crochets (sc) along the edges to neaten.
  • Optionally, add a shell or picot border for decoration.

🌸 TIPS

✨ To make it softer and drapier, use mohair or fine acrylic yarn.
✨ To make it sturdier, use cotton.
✨ Always block (steam or pin flat) after finishing — this helps open up the lace pattern beautifully.
