Crochet coasters are quick and easy to make. They are great with using any kind of yarn. They also make great gifts for friends, family and colleagues be it any occasion. Here, I am sharing a very simple flower coaster
🌸 DETAILED CROCHET FLOWER MOTIF COASTER PATTERN
🧶 MATERIALS:
- 3 or 4 contrasting colors of worsted weight cotton yarn
- Crochet hook: 3.5 mm to 4.0 mm
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
🧵 STITCH LEGEND (US TERMS):
- MR = Magic Ring
- CH = Chain
- SC = Single Crochet
- HDC = Half Double Crochet
- DC = Double Crochet
- SL ST = Slip Stitch
- PS (Puff Stitch) = Yarn over (YO), insert hook, pull up loop 3 times (you’ll have 7 loops on hook), YO, pull through all loops.
🧼 ROUND-BY-ROUND INSTRUCTIONS:
🌼 ROUND 1 – CENTER BASE
- With Color A (center), create a magic ring (or CH 4 and join to form a loop).
- CH 1, then make 12 SC into the ring.
- Pull ring tight, SL ST to the first SC to close the round.
- Fasten off (if changing color).
- [12 SC total]
✅ Tip: Make sure you don’t tighten too much—you’ll need to insert into each stitch in Round 2.
🌼 ROUND 2 – PUFF PETALS
- Join Color B in any stitch.
- CH 2, make a Puff Stitch (PS), CH 2, SL ST into the next stitch.
- Repeat this puff combo around: (CH 2, PS, CH 2, SL ST in next SC)
- You will make 12 puff petals.
- Fasten off.
- [12 PS with CH-2 spaces]
✅ Tip: Each petal takes up two stitches from Round 1—use every stitch or you’ll end up short.
🌼 ROUND 3 – WHITE OPEN LOOPS (Spider Web Look)
- Join Color C (white or contrast) in any CH-2 space between petals.
- CH 5, SL ST into the next CH-2 space.
- Repeat around: (CH 5, SL ST in next space) 12 times.
- Do not fasten off unless changing color.
- [12 CH-5 loops]
✅ Tip: These loops form the web-like bridge for the next round’s petals.
🌼 ROUND 4 – PETAL SHAPES ON THE LOOPS
- Working in each CH-5 loop:
(SC, HDC, DC, DC, DC, HDC, SC)
Repeat in every loop. - You’ll form 12 scalloped petals.
- SL ST to the first SC, fasten off.

✅ Tip: The 3 DCs should sit at the top curve, giving a rounded petal look.
🌼 ROUND 5 – FINAL DETAILING (Optional)
- Join Color D (final border) in the center DC of any petal.
- SC, CH 2, SC in that stitch. Then SL ST to the next petal’s center.
- Repeat around.
- SL ST to finish, fasten off and weave in ends.
