Amazing Crochet Pattern

Posted on January 2, 2026

This looks like a crochet lattice puff / elongated V-stitch pattern (sometimes called elongated puff shell mesh). I’ll explain it step by step so you can recreate it easily.

MATERIALS

  • Yarn: medium / worsted (cotton or acrylic works best)
  • Hook: 4.0 mm – 4.5 mm
  • Scissors

STITCHES YOU MUST KNOW

  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • yo = yarn over

SPECIAL STITCH: LONG PUFF STITCH (VERY IMPORTANT)

This puff is long, not tight.

How to make 1 long puff stitch:

  1. Yarn over
  2. Insert hook into space
  3. Pull up a long loop (same height as a dc)
  4. Yarn over, insert hook again, pull up long loop
  5. Repeat 5 times total (you should have many loops on hook)
  6. Yarn over, pull through all loops
  7. Chain 1 to close puff

👉 Always pull loops loose and tall

FOUNDATION CHAIN

  • Chain a multiple of 4 + 2
  • Example:
    • Small sample: ch 18
    • Larger piece: ch 30, 34, 38, etc.

ROW 1 – BASE ROW

  1. Sc in 2nd chain from hook
  2. Sc in every chain to the end
  3. Ch 1, turn

👉 This row gives stability

ROW 2 – CREATE BOX SPACES

  1. Sc in first stitch
  2. Ch 3
  3. Skip 2 stitches
  4. Sc in next stitch
  5. Repeat steps 2–4 across
  6. End with sc in last stitch
  7. Ch 1, turn

👉 You should see small square holes

ROW 3 – FIRST PUFF ROW

  1. Sc in first sc
  2. Make 1 long puff stitch in ch-3 space
  3. Sc in next sc
  4. Repeat across
  5. Ch 1, turn

👉 Puff stitches sit inside the boxes

ROW 4 – CROSSING / LATTICE ROW

This row creates the diagonal woven look.

  1. Sc in first stitch
  2. Ch 3
  3. Insert hook between two puff stitches (not into puff)
  4. Sc there
  5. Repeat steps 2–4 across
  6. Ch 1, turn

👉 The chains cross over the puff stitches diagonally

ROW 5 – OFFSET PUFF ROW

  1. Sc in first stitch
  2. Long puff stitch in ch-3 space
  3. Sc in next sc
  4. Repeat across
  5. Ch 1, turn

👉 Puffs now stack in a zig-zag pattern

REPEAT

Repeat:

  • Row 4
  • Row 5

Until your project is long enough.

EDGES (IMPORTANT FOR NEAT LOOK)

  • Always place sc at the beginning and end
  • Keep chain-3 spaces the same size
  • Do NOT pull chains tight

COMMON MISTAKES

❌ Puff stitches too short
❌ Skipping wrong stitch
