Easy to make Crochet Flower

Posted on December 24, 2025

This is a 5-petal crochet flower made in one piece, worked in the round with raised, curved petals. Here’s a clear step-by-step tutorial to make it 🌸

🌸 5-Petal Crochet Flower (Very Detailed)

MATERIALS

  • Yarn: cotton or smooth acrylic (DK / worsted is best)
  • Hook: 3–4 mm
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle

STITCH GUIDE (US TERMS)

  • ch = chain
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • sc = single crochet
  • hdc = half double crochet
  • dc = double crochet
  • tr = treble crochet

STEP 1: MAKE THE CENTER

1️⃣ Magic Ring

  • Wrap yarn around your fingers
  • Insert hook
  • Pull up a loop
  • Ch 1 (this does NOT count as a stitch)

2️⃣ Single Crochet into Ring

  • Work 10 sc into the magic ring
  • Pull the ring tight
  • Sl st into the first sc

πŸ‘‰ You now have 10 stitches

STEP 2: CREATE PETAL SPACES (VERY IMPORTANT)

This step creates 5 arches where petals will be built.

Repeat the following 5 times:

  1. Ch 3
  2. Skip 1 stitch
  3. Sl st into next stitch

When finished:

  • You will see 5 chain-3 loops
  • Each loop = 1 petal

Sl st into the first sl st to close the round.

STEP 3: CROCHET THE PETALS

πŸ‘‰ All stitches below are worked inside ONE chain-3 loop

πŸ”Ή Petal Stitch Sequence (exact order):

  1. 1 sc
  2. 1 hdc
  3. 3 dc
  4. 1 hdc
  5. 1 sc
  6. Ch 1
  7. Sl st into next chain-3 loop

This completes 1 petal

Repeat this same sequence for all 5 chain-3 loops.

At this point, the flower will already look full and curved.

STEP 4: SHARPEN THE PETAL TIPS (PHOTO DETAIL)

To get the slightly pointed tip like the photo:

  1. Locate the middle dc of each petal
  2. Insert hook into the top of that dc
  3. Ch 1
  4. Sl st into the same stitch

This pulls the center upward, forming a leaf-like point

Do this for each petal

STEP 5: FINISHING

  • Sl st anywhere to secure
  • Cut yarn
  • Pull through
  • Weave in ends neatly at the back

Gently shape petals with your fingers
