🌵 Part 1: The Cactus Body

Using green yarn:

  1. R1: MR, 6 sc in ring (6)
  2. R2: inc in each st around (12)
  3. R3: (1 sc, inc) × 6 (18)
  4. R4: (2 sc, inc) × 6 (24)
  5. R5–R12: sc around in BLO (24 each round)
→ Working in BLO gives the cactus its “ridges.”
  6. R13: (2 sc, dec) × 6 (18)
  7. R14: (1 sc, dec) × 6 (12)
→ Start stuffing firmly with fiberfill.
  8. R15: dec around (6)
→ Fasten off, close the hole, and hide the yarn tail inside.

💡 Tip: You can lightly shape the cactus into a rounded dome by pressing the bottom flat with your fingers.

🪵 Part 2: The Pot

Using brown yarn:

  1. R1: MR, 6 sc in ring (6)
  2. R2: inc in each st (12)
  3. R3: (1 sc, inc) × 6 (18)
  4. R4: (2 sc, inc) × 6 (24)
  5. R5: sc in BLO around (24) — this creates the pot base edge.
  6. R6–R7: sc around normally (24 each round)
  7. R8: (2 sc, dec) × 6 (18)
  8. R9: (1 sc, dec) × 6 (12)
→ Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Stuff the pot lightly before sewing the cactus on top.

🌸 Part 3: The Flower

Using yellow, orange, or pink yarn:

  1. R1: MR, (ch 2, 2 dc, ch 2, sl st) × 5 petals into the ring.
  2. Pull tight to close. Fasten off, leaving a short tail.
  3. Optional: Sew a small white bead or stitch a white knot in the center.

🔗 Part 4: Assembly

  1. Sew the bottom of the cactus onto the top of the pot.
    – Make sure the cactus is centered.
    – Secure it tightly with several passes of yarn.
  2. Sew or glue the flower on top of the cactus.
  3. Attach the keychain ring:
    • Insert a small metal chain or jump ring through the top of the cactus (or sew a loop of yarn).
    • Attach the keyring securely.

🌟 Optional Add-ons

  • Embroider small white lines or “spikes” with embroidery floss for extra detail.
  • Add a small tag or charm on the keychain for a personalized touch.
  • Make different flower colors for variety!
